Oh, Bose SoundDock, truly, you save me from boredom (or having to buy a TV).

Whether I want to listen to NPR or Royksopp on my iPod, I know you will always be there for me (choke, sob), at least until your warrantee runs out.

Because I love my iPod and want to buy it a nice dock to sit upon whilst it's charging. Because we don't have music playing capabilities in the bedroom. And, because it looks much nicer than most speaker systems.

Take it with you on a trip but need to plug in.

This one I have, and I love, love, love it. It was one of the first-to-market ipod docking stations, and I still think it's one of the best for sound, size, style and value. For a single speaker unit, the sound is excellent. The size makes it mobile, as I often move it to the backyard when I'm gardening or entertaining. Other than the Geneva unit, the minimalist design of this Bose unit is still one of the best looking ones out there. The only negative is no batteries option, but with the sound quality for the size, I can see why one would sacrifice this extra perk.

Fills a house with sound, size of a shoebox.

These speakers pump out crystal clear vocals and wall-thumping bass; kinda like Red Bull for iPods. (via Bose)
