Powell's Books - Girl by Blake Nelson
My jaw dropped when I saw this added by Liz. I was *just* talking about this exact book to one of my girlfriends last week. I discovered it in my college bookstore in '94 and instantly took to it. I've also re-read it several times. It always amazed me that a grown man nailed the vernacular of a teenage girl to a tee. A shame the movie was so disappointing but the book will forever be one of my fave's.
I read this when I was seventeen, then reread it at least five times since then. It still blows my mind how Blake Nelson so perfectly writes in the voice of a suburban teenage girl. Probably my favorite coming-of-age book ever.
