The Mentmore Company manufactured a range of products during the early years of the 1920s, initially the well made fountain pens they produced were destine for the wholesale market.
By the 1930s Mentmore, the MM Company, had further expanded becoming established as a pen manufacturer.
The outbreak of War in 1939 necessitated severe restrictions imposed by order of the Board of Trade only five model types of fountain pens were permitted to be made.
By 1943 only two model types were allowed, not until April of 1946 were these production restrictions lifted allowing a quota limited to five model types to be manufactured. This mid 1930s period Autoflow button filling model is in superb condition.
Manufactured in black vulcanite or ebonite material and finished with a finely chased pattern. The teardrop design gold plated pocket clip is a scarce type.
The Mentmore 14 carat gold nib is in new condition, a medium broad point size nib.
