It's totally a sin that this album is out of print and you can only buy it used. This was my absolute favorite album when it came out. And now looking back, it really does still hold up really well. "My Sharona" is such a fun song, then there's a Lisa Leob song, U2, Juliana Hatfield, Crowded House, Lenny Kravitz, Dinosaur Jr. and Squeeze. It was the first time I heard U2, and I didn't even know how cool half the bands were at the time. Great, great album.

If you were in high school during a very short little slice of time in the early 80's you will get all the jokes and love this movie and also love this soundtrack.... if you fall even a year or two earlier or later, well... it's a 50/50 split. If you can hear "My Sharona" and not burst into song or feel your body start to dance, then maybe you should pass, but other wise turn it up and enjoy!

Previous viewing of this movie is not a requirement for purchase of the soundtrack. Although they are both excellent indeed, I would say that I have listened to the soundtrack many more times. One gem in particular I would like to point out is the song sung by Ethan Hawke: "I'm Nuthiin' ". The entire album is a 20-song long journey through various genres of music. It grooves.
