Looking for a new toy? Have a new member of the family on the way and want to be sure you don't miss a thing as they grow up? Get yourself a camcorder. The Sony Handycam DCR-DVD508 is a standard definition recorder that records on miniDVDs. The video quality is very good and you can shoot still shots as well. It has one of the best low light shooting settings as well. You loose some color in low light, but you don't get streaking or smearing effects. This is a great camera if you are okay with not having HD but still has great quality and isn't complicated to use.
