Wired recommended this. Its expensive but it records REAL HD (1920 x 1080 pixels) video to Secure Digital cards. This is the same data storage that digital cameras use. Does it make me a poser to follow Wired's lead? Perhaps it does.

You should know that I have some experience in these things, having gone to NYU for sound and tv production. And yet, I still feel like a poser. In any case, this thing the records full HD video, using a proprietary codec and MPEG-4 AVC/H.264 video compression. It has HDMI out as well. Good stuff.

I recommend this as the ideal home video camera as long as there is someone in the house who is technologically aware and who has the software to deal with digital.
