A clever mid-century design from Takeshi Nii, the NY Rocking Chair features a folding frame inspired by the director's chair. Ideal for storing in tight places and looking fantastic in use, the design still looks fresh 50 years later. (via BLTD)

Many rocking chairs look like something leftover from a small-town antique store, but leave it to Design Within Reach to bring us a totally updated piece. The Ny Rocking Chair, designed by Takeshi Nii in 1958, is modern and chic - and it folds up for easy storage or transport.

What a stunning find! Totally modern without the inpracticality of it all!

We had two in the mid 70's and they only died when bolts holding seats to arms snapped. Very cumfy with the matching ottomans and very portable for students

We had 2 Ny rockers in the mid 70's which only died when the screw/bolts snapped between arms and seat. They were very cumfy and mobil and inexpensive with ottomans(150.00)
