You have got to love Roots. Regardless of your ethnic background, this series was one of the most compelling dramas ever to be put on television. It is not one of those shows where time has passed it by. It is still a good show. Hell, damn near ever episode had an aspect to it that made me cry or nearly made me cry.
It is interesting to hear my older family members tell me about when this show first aired and the effect it had on people. White people that knew/worked with various members of my family would apologize to them. That is pretty powerful stuff.

I think every black actor in Hollywood in the 70's was in this movie. This movie was huge! I remember all my classmates of all backgrounds talking about Roots and being home like clockwork to watch it. I even think this miniseries was integrated into my classes. This movie was a phenomenon. It chronicled the life and descendants of Kunta Kinte, an African man enslaved, brought to America and forced into labor. (via Amazon)
