bought fred at the redbull flugtag in MN....used him as a flask ever since...well untill he was partially cremated at such redneck festivities...but we gave him a proper ceremony.

Since water is after all, well, WATER, bottled water merchands have to work extra hard to sell their own version of the water in a bottle (brilliant!) concept. for Fred, apparently it means being sold in a bottle that looks like a whiskey flask, but also hanging out at MySpace. Fred currently has 41 friends, not including Tom. After all, I wouldn't want to be Friend with a botle of water, it seems so, ephemeral... And, at the risk of sounding dated, is this the same Fred that was too sexy for his shirt?

I am not here to say I love Fred. I am Fred. Just here to thank those who put me up here. All the best. Your friend, Fred.

I love this because it has my friends name on it. I want personalized water in my own bottle. In fact, I think all beverages should be sold in a mega store with millions of bottles each customized with the top 500 most popular names for that city. What's the point of abundance if we can't abuse it wildly?!

I was introduced to the "water-in-a-flask" concept at a nightclub in Vegas; it's called Liquid Salvation - http://www.liquidsalvation.com/

Healthy alternative to drinking brandy or whiskey in a flask. Drink water in a flask instead. This is a brilliant concept.

I bought this while traveling. We're military and I love trying different drinks. It is SO Good!!!! Now I can't find it anywhere and am totally bummed. I admit, I have had a fred water dream of being thirsty in the desert.

Flask-like design of bottle is slim, sleek and very easy to carry around.

The legendary Fred! He's mainly available in urban centers and that's because he caters to a certain crowd. I do have to hand it to the company, their devotion to a unique idea is pretty cool: the name, an entire webzine dedicated to the lifestyle (fredspot.com), updates on FaceBook, MySpace, Twitter - you name it. Move aside though, water lover coming through. Fred is a very low mineral spring water. There's not much in it. It's very low-key mostly, with about a neutral pH. This makes it a very smooth sip for most. Maybe it's my over-sensitive palate but I find the scarcity of minerals overall highlights the ones that are there in higher concentrations. I taste either Magnesium or Calcium, which gives it a slightly metallic after-feel. Again, you may not notice this at all. Bottom line: Smooth sipping, very neutral and low-key but in a good way (unlike the chemically proportioned Poland Spring). Aquaphiles may taste some salts (Mg or Ca). Very cool flask shaped bottle.
