This is a book you can actually give to a kid as a present. It has classic fairy tales and some of it's own invention, but all are grossly altered. With funny graphics and a sardonic, never happy but cynically funny re-telling of old classics, you might actually get the kid to thank you for the gift.

Guaranteed to be entertaining and enlightening to adults and kids alike, The Stinky Cheese Man is a classic among fractured fairy-tales. These twisted re-tellings spoof all the stories you know so well. While most suitable for children in 1st grade and up, some of these stories are useful for parents wishing to counter act the Victorian ethos that permeates most of the tales made popular by the Grimm brothers and Disney & Co. In "The Princess and the Bowling ball" for example, the prince replaces the pea with the more obvious object once he finally meets a girl he likes. Great illustrations won this book the Caldecott
