An ingenious toy that attaches to the refrigerator by magnets. So, while you're in the kitchen trying to cook, little johnny is right there with you quietly playing by himself, developing his fine motor skills and learning his ABCs. Life is good! It is also under $20.

Finding toys for 12-24mo olds can be a bit challenging, but then I come across things like this Fridge Phonics Magnetic Letter Set and suddenly things get a bit easier. Grandpa has one at his house and my daughter plays with it forever. It says it's for 2 and up, but she started playing and putting letters in at 14 mos. This is a GREAT gift to buy for the holidays and a very educational one. (via toysrus.com)

Leap Frog's simplest and best toy. Not only helps you teach your kdis their letters, but also the different pronunciations of each letter. Great toy. (via Amazon)
