My friend Jason brought this over the other night, and we were immediately hooked. If you like classic rock, heavy metal, or alternative, the music alone almost justifies the price. My only problem was that I played so much my wrist got sore. The toy guitar controller is included with the game.

So it's not an actual guitar that you strum, but it's still such a fun game! Once you get the hang of pushing those buttons, you'll get addicted. Remember to take breaks after every couple songs (or take turns with a friend), because after a while, your fingers will start to hurt! I really hope they come out with a new game with more songs.

Guitar Hero is the greatest videogame for families. You connect the guitar controller to your playstation2 and start rocking. This game has taken over our family. Everyone is hooked!

Guitar Hero is a great game tha I think everyone else will love too. Even if you don't like videogames, you will enjoy the experience of playing.

Amazingly fun game! Great for anyone who ever air-guitared -- this game will make you feel like you're REALLY rockin'! Whether you can play a real guitar or not, this game is enjoyed by all! But I highly recommend getting Guitar Hero II, which is the latest release. The multi-player mode and song selection really takes it to the next level.

Fun for everyone. At first I thought I would suck at this game or be embarassed while playing. Both are sort of true but I got over it because it's just too much fun rockin out with a plastic guitar.

Difficulty levels ensure anyone can play, good intro tool if you know someone not into video games.

Ridiculous fun for everyone who ever dreamed of being a rock god (which is everyone). You'll need Guitar Hero II as well but start with the original.

So he always wanted to be a rock star, but missed the opportunity. Well, you can make it semi-come true. Lots of gizmos onthis Playstation2 unit to keep him preoccupied for hours.

Omg. Half the music in this game I don't even really like, but I couldn't stop playing even when my eyes started to blur. Future conversation with future grandkids: Young children: Grandma, how did you get carpel tunnel? Me: Guitar Hero, my sweeties. Endless, endless hours of Guitar Hero.

Warning: If you still want to become a rock star, don't get this game. It will suck the very desire to play music for real out of your soul. It's evil. Blah blah blah. I, of course, am kidding. This is a good game. The game play is better in part two. R

Guitar Hero may not be the same as actually playing a guitar, but it's amazingly fun. For starters, being actually able to play a guitar does not automatically ensure that you will be awesome at this game. It takes a second to pick up on, but once you get the hang of it (the difficulty settings range from using three buttons on Easy to all five on Hard/Expert, and the later incarnations of GH include practice modes) you move up in difficulty pretty quickly. The music selection is pretty good for fans of classic rock, and provides exposure to music similar to your own tastes (I started listening to Avenged Sevenfold thanks to GH2). The newer versions, 3 and the upcoming World Tour have the option to download extra songs, making them worth the price (not that expensive!)
