Fascinating to watch and a cool toy to try out - the ants do all the work for you!

The medium is a special gel that provides the ants with all the food and water they need. They also tunnel through it.

It's amazing to see these big ants, large jaws chomping away, digging these intricate tunnels. They seem to pile the rubble up on top.

You have to order the ants separately, which is a $5 adventure. Let's just say, for me, getting them in there involved several spoons, a large plastic bucket, various pieces of cardboard and paper and tremendous amounts of patience. Watch out though - these things can sting!

Fascinating creatures ants. Sure you hate to see them in your socks or making a B-line for that pizza crust crumb you forgot to sweep up at the local LAN party. But let's give credit where credit is due. Ants are amazing. Ants can lift up to 20x their body weight! They have two stomachs and three eyes! They also have uncanny communication skills and amazing abilities to work together to achieve a common goal. (via The Sharper Image)

Well it's an Antquariam. For those of you who do not mind having ants in your home (in an aquarium of course) will really love this idea. There are some children who are really into science, well heck who isn't. This kit comes with this cool aquarium, ants (specially breed in the UK, OKAY?) and some kind of gel that ants like. The ant’s life lasts about 6 months, and for your pleasure they carry their dead to the top for easy disposal. An interesting gift idea for that special interesting child! (via Cool Mom Picks)
