Split about evenly between reviews and features, this is one of the better rounded British music magazines. Ok, it also reviews movies, but that's not really why I buy it, especailly since most movies premier in Britian well after their American release. They cover a wide variety of acts, but the focus is on rock more than folk, blues, hip hop, R&B, and other acts they review. The features are well written and usually very interesting.

Where do Mavens read about music? In British rock magazines of course! Any magazine that has my beloved Faces on the cover has a special place in my heart! I only buy British rock magazines (Mojo and Classic Rock being the other ones I favor). This is another one I purchase every month. It reminds me a bit of Mojo. It has a good mix of the old along with the new! Yeah its about $10 USD (so is Mojo and Classic Rock) but you also get a free sampler CD every month so it is worth it. Think of it this way, you could spend money on crap like Rolling Stone where you might read one article if you are lucky or Blender where they write reviews (and bad reviews at that) of CD's that are not even released and that they have not even heard (I will never forgive Blender (not that I read it anyway) for the Black Crowes debacle) or you can spend $10 on something great you will read cover to cover and get a CD! You decide!
