The first film I ever fell in love with, and the one I watch everytime I need some cheering up. Great acting, and a beautiful soundtrack, combined with a precisely perfect directorial hand and style of film just make this enchanting. If you want to be charmed, or just be reassured about love's place in the world, and where we all stand relative to that great factor in everyone's lives, watch this.

No,

seriously.

Do it.

I have to join the legions of fans of this movie. Is it realistic? Probably not - and it's set in a Paris that probably never existed (modern day one, but more classic 'French').

Still, the creativity and sheer beauty of this movie is bound to make an impact. It tells the tale of Amélie Poulain (played wonderfully by Audrey Tautou), a shy waitress in Paris, who decides to help others with small, unidentifiable acts of kindness. A bit of a romance, as she must choose whether to help herself and be happy.

The entire film just bursts with creativity and beauty, and boast impressive and fitting cinematography. There are so many allegorical scenes and even laugh out loud bits. It will make your day a little happier yet may also make you cry at times.

The soundtrack is perfect, a wonderful and very French sound. It was composed by Yann Tiersen and adds enormously to the film. I recommend checking out his albums for somewhat alternative, often stunning, and always creative music.

OK, OK, OK. I've seen it like four times, and yes it's a bit of a no-brainer - an adorable French girl traipses around in the Montmarte of yore trying to become a better person, and find love - but it really is an amazing upper.

The perfect feel-good movie that introduces a rather quirky, but very cute perspective of life as seen by this less than ordinary girl living a relatively ordinary life. At first content with her lifestyle, she soon decides to become an all around do-gooder out of restlessness & manages to find love along the way. It's super crafty, always entertaining, and has a sprinkling of comedy throughout its lovely contents. A must-see à mon avis :]
