If you're a writer, and you're at all interested in the business of publishing, then you ought to sign yourself up for Publishers Lunch, which is a short list of news and happenings in the publishing "biz". Once you figure out if the price of "free" is worth it, then you can decide if the price of twenty bucks a month is worth it to sign up for Publisher's Marketplace, which is an online gathering of publishing pros and not-so-pros... I've opted out of the Marketplace for a few years because it didn't seem to be doing anything for me but make me crazy that I wasn't selling as many books as Aunt Matilda, and my blog was less popular than pictures of ugly dogs... but I do still get the Lunch. And frankly, you can't beat the price.
