  I love these colanders for obviously draining pasta and the like; but I also use them for fruits and vegetables as a way to keep them from rotting and getting moldy. Because these colanders are so colorful and fun - keep them out on the countertop or use them on the table for serving. The holes allow air to circulate, therefore foods like peaches, plums, tomatoes, etc stay fresh longer.
