Paying more than $20 for a hairbrush may sound like insanity to some, and at times I wonder if I'm not insane, but these brushes are quite well-made, and will probably make a nice investment. Have you seen 'Blades of Glory'? Remember the scene where Will Ferrell is talking about his Verticoli? Well I sort of feel that way about my Mason Pearson brush. I opted for the mixed bristle brush because I have pretty thick heavy hair. The nylon bristles may feel a little harsh for people with sensitive scalps but I'm pretty used to running brushes across my scalp so it wasn't a problem for me. I actually heard from someone that Mason Pearson decides the prices of their brushes according to how many boar bristles there are in the brush. So, the smaller the brush, the fewer the bristles so the lower the price. And if you get a mixed bristle or nylon bristle brush there will be fewer bristles compared to a full boar bristle brush so the price will be much lower for those. Anyway, the final word is that post-brush, my hair feels silky and the large size of the brush feels luxurious in my hand, so I do not regret spending $$$ on this brush at all, but it may not be for everyone!
