Ahhhhh! Eric Carle -- he writes and "arts up" the nicest Children's books. I have always loved this story. When I was teaching I used this story as our end of the year "play" by assigning each student a line to read. To me this story was a perfect example of how they grew and blossomed during the year -- much like the caterpillar in the story. The collage art inside is lovely and energizing.

Probably not destined to be a classic, but you need to have a large variety of books to select from to read to your kids and this one is enjoyable.
