This is a great idea for when you need subtle lighting outside, to show the way into the house or along a path. The solar cells collect light, and the torch has a sensor that switches the torch on as soon as it gets dark.
Alternatively, there are also torches that can be switched on and off to one's liking.
Why still waste precious energy when solar cells can do so much better?
