Have you ever tasted the Harry and David Pears???? Outrageously good. I do beleive they fall under beauty ... they make you glow... they make you smile... they satisfy you.

If you love pears (and who doesn't?) you have to try the Royal Riviera Pears from Harry & David. I'm not sure if Harry & David started with the Royal Riviera Pears but they seem to be known for them. These wacky Oregonians sure know how to grow pears.

So at Christmas, my cousin brought over a box of the Harry & David Royal Riviera pears. They were the most delicious things I've ever tasted. Imagine a can of pears; that can of pears is usually in a sweet syrup. Now imagine that you bit into a pear and it tasted as though it was in the sweet syrup, even though it came straight from the vine. Absolutely wonderful! The pears are juicier than your normal supermarket pear and is super tender. Each pear is also probably bigger than most at the supermarket and you can eat more of this pear than your average pear too (the core is not bitter).

Harry & David has two varieties; regular & Maverick. The difference is appearance. The Maverick ones are more likely to be odd shaped or have dark spots. The regular ones are more appropriate for gifts because they look more aesthetically pleasing.

Now, I love these pears, but part of the taste is luck. I bought a set after my cousin and they were good, but not as addicting as the first set. I might not have waited long enough for them to ripen… I got impatient.

They are on sale now. I think these pears will be out of season soon, so get them while you can!

A box of these rare winter pears makes a sweet way to "I love you". Give them as a gift or buy them as a treat for yourself. If you've never tasted one yourself, you don't know what you're missing. Seriously, after tasting these pears I was ruined for all other fruit. I can't possibly pick up pears at my local grocery store anymore. They're that good.
