Great. Another thing to spend the last of my savings on. The great uses I can make of this for my remodel! Pontential ideas range from night light panels to lit glass counter tops. Too bad it's not solar operated. That would make it a must have for me. Without seeing how the inverter electrical unit works, it's hard for me to commit. I'm not a fan of wiring running all over my walls or floors. Unless it's on purpose, of course.

This flat panel light uses LEC technology to create a paper thin lighting device that is flexible and extremely light weight. . Sized as large as 3' x 6', a tad smaller than my front door ($1,650) (ouch). Smallest is 8.5" x 14" for $25. They need to create a connector cable, so one can create a grid without 12 outlets needed. Don't you think?

I can't say enough awful things about this product. From the weak light output, to a giant power inverter (3.5 x 3.5 x 17 inches needed by all lights bigger than about the size of a sheet of paper) that makes the noise of the loudest most profane computer fan imaginable, to trying to EXCHANGE it the next day and being told by the head Canadian disributer: "No. We're not Wal-Mart" and being promised that "we'll do something about it" by the head US distributor (why won't you answer my calls?), I am stuck 1.5 years later owning a $2100 pile of dated-looking junk.

Yes, it is flexible. Yes it is thin. In my opinion and experience, these features are more than cancelled out by the drawbacks. I am currently clearing a space in my attic that is big enough to hold the box I plan to construct that will need to be both soundproof and large enough to permit sufficient airflow to the inverter. I will then be running 40ft of extension cord through my walls and floor and to some piece of furniture that I will from that point on not be able to move, but which will look effortlessly cool.

Please wait for a better technology to come along, or for the bugs to be worked out on this one.

i agree with kristine, the uses for this are only limited by your imagination. using multiples to accent a wall or floor could look amazing.

A flat, flexible light bulb. Seems like more fun to play with than actually useful, but that counts too.
