Who knew you HAVE to take your shoes off when going through the security line at the airport? I didn't, until I got there. Good thing I was 1) wearing socks, because who knows what kind of disgusting diseases are lurking on LAX's floor if you're barefoot, and 2) wearing CUTE socks since everyone will see them. A couple of pairs of argyle socks will get you there and back.
