Ok, I am an amplifire lover. You could say I am obsessed with car audio amps and subs. I was on E-bat one day just lookin around for an amp to buy and came across a Directed 1200d/5 amp. The seller said item was damaged or not working and had some scratches and one dent on the bottom at one end. Well I decided to bid on it any. I have an electronics degree and I buy amps all the time that don;t work and fixem. Anyway, the seller said he had no way of testing amp and may realize that this may power up and work fine. It was for sale for parts or repair. The final bid was $60 and I won. Also $20 for shipping, $80 total. So I googled the amp and google came back with all kinds of sites and info on it and I started reading them. Then I was so glad I did win cause this amp was selling brand new in 2004 for $800. Finally got the amp, was so excited and it looked better than I expected. I unpackaged it and took the back cover off and the amp smelled and looked brand new, did'nt see any problems what soever espeacially where the dent was. The guy who had got it cause of the dent and scratches from being shipped improperly but amp is brand new just a scratch and dent item that he some how got and thats what he sells on e-bay. Well I got to lookin a little closer and found one tiny little problem, one of the output transistor resistors was broke off from the solder joint. So I fired up my soldering iron and soldered it back into the board and hooked it up and it worked just fine. Could'nt believe how lucky I got. Amp is 2 feet long 10 inches wide and 2 .5 inches tall, also heavy. Have'nt weighed it but I'd say 20lbs strong, no lie. Thats my story and I'm stickin to it. (via Dr. Detail)
