There are obviously better, more "serious" cameras out there. But if you want a light-weight camera, to take good pictures, easily, the Nikon D40 is where it is at.

Rear LCD-only display, and pretty much weightless are some of the key features of this camera.

Remember, at least as far as digicams go, the value is all in the lens and not in the body, and like any technology, what matters most is the skill of the operator.

I am loving my new camera. I got it because the lady at the camera store said it was very user-friendly and a great value for the price, and she was right. My camera is lightweight and very straightforward and easy to use. I've taken some awesome pictures with it. It also has the same features of more expensive DSLRs, so it's not like you will feel like you're missing out if you buy this instead of something else. Mine was such a great deal I even got an extra lens, and still paid less than the regular price of some other DSLRs. Bonus.

great starter camera for the DSL novices out there. It's small enough to travel with, but still provides the quality expected from a Nokia.
