A wake up call on the weight the evolution of man has had on the earth and it's creatures. This is not to say some extinction is not natural or to weigh in at all on whether it was meant to be or not. This is a book that recounts the loss of so many species for sheer lack of understanding as well as lack of thought as to the creature's well being. It's startling how many times in very recent history, people have been excited about a creature, and shot it in order to take the remains in for examination, only to find it was the last specimen or next to last. What thought process in our society led us to believe it would be best to kill it in order to understand it? However you look at it, there have been some truly amazing creatures on this planet in the recent future. How many more will go before our kids are grown to see them?
