Alchemy goods makes the coolest messenger bags! Strap is made from recycled seatbelt material and the waterproof exterior is made from recycled inner tubes.
Seriously, I could write an essay about this thing. It's durable, frankly badass-looking, massively functional and Seattle-proof. I can fit a full-sized hardcover book (currently Max Brooks' "World War Z"), a full-sized telephone receiver (it's a cell phone accessory) plus cell phone, a medium sketchbook, a clunky old iPod, a Nintendo DS with game and plastic game case with an additional game and instructions, a makeup bag, a gigantic wad of keys, pens and pencils, a snack, my glasses case, a pocket knife... I haven't tried cramming my laptop into it yet, but we'll see. Attach a water bottle to the strap and you'll want for nothing. There's also an adapter for a cross-strap to further secure the bag to your body, for hiking or bike riding. A fascinating and useful product. It even comes with patches made of the same inner tube material, to patch or just stick on where you may. I'd also like to note that the insert that came with the bag was hand-signed. Too fun. I'm getting a messenger bag next! In short: These seem expensive at first glance, but give it a chance. You won't regret it, and your bag will become a constant companion.
