I came across this amazing company while doing my usual scouring for the newest and hippest stuff out there and lo and behold. Someone actually DOES make a cool music box.
This company, Reuge (the art of mechanical music), makes superb modern and traditional music boxes. These are seriously fine instruments and on their site you can listen to how they sound.
I only put up images of the more unusual ones, but they have several stunning wood inlaid traditional boxes and singing bird boxes in the lovely french tradition.
These are very pricey, but so romantic- especially the limited edition engraved poem one.
Sigh.
