Matmos "Supreme Balloon"

Recommended by

Description

Matmos released Supreme Ballon (Matador Records) back in May 7, 2008. Their music has never disappointed my deep need for quirky, left-field electronics. These two guys are blissfully out of their minds and having fun! On a serious tip, Matmos really knows how to modulate sound.

Liner Notes:
Arp, Korg, Roland, Waldorf, Moog, Doepfer, Suzuki Omnichord, Coupigny, EVI/Electronic Voice Instrument: all synth brands the very mention of which make vintage gear fetishists salivate. These also happen to provide the sole sound sources for Matmos’ new album. That’s right, no contact mics on scalps, mollusks, or the CNS for these recordings! Not to fear though, the same sensibility is behind the manipulation of these pre-synthesized sounds into a tasty and distinctly Matmosian dish.
