Jane Austen is unsurpassed in her ability to write satire. My favorite comedy bit is Mr. Collins' love for Lizzie. When the world gets me down, I always come back to P&P. I've probably read it 50 times.

Dear Jane Austen,
On this Valentine's Day 2007, I just wanted to say thank you for bringing so much joy to my life. You're a rock star, Jane - and I say that with only the highest respect.
Pride and Prejudice is a perfect, perfect novel - when I read it, everything else in my world seemd to freeze in time. Oh, how I wish I were the fiesty and truthful Elizabeth! Or do I wish I was Jane...beautiful and demure and so caring?
You weave stories that take me far away from this crazy world. You're so old - but you are the original modern woman, and for that I salute you.
Thank you for giving me Pride and Prejudice, Ms. Austen. Thank you for all your novels about heroines who beat to their own drum, aren't afraid to fall madly in love, and who refuse to settle for second best.

id recommend it to anyone to see o read, its a wonderful story and its shows you how to fall in love with the person that you hated. i was really exciting to saw this movie with keira knightely and matthew macfayden, there are 2 great actors for this film . (via raisa)

This is a wonderful and amazing story. If you love romance, you will fall in love with this book beyond doubt. The characters and settings are perfect. There's really not a dull moment in the book and you'll learn to appreciate all it has to offer, leaving you just wanting more and more. If you've seen the 1996 movie version of this book your well on your way to knowing the real story, but the book still has so much more. ~heart~

You'll hear a ton of people say this is one of their favorite books of all time...and that is cause it is an unboring, nonstuffy classic that rocks. Don't get caught up in the early 19th century language and just appreciate the story that is being told and the great cast of characters - including arguably one of the best heroines ever.
Even if you've seen one of the many movies based on the book, please read the real thing and see just WHY hollywood wants to keep pumping out movies based on Jane Austen's classic.
