Welcome to Jamrock by Damian Marley

A recommendation by Sheena

Sheena's recommendation

Damien 'Junior Gong' Marley really lived up to his father's legacy with the release of Welcome to Jamrock. With hits like Road to Zion, Beautiful and All Night he was fame grew exponentially. This album is definitely going down in history as one of the best reggae albums ever.

By far my favorite Marley (sorry Stephen, you're runner up) because of his catchy, recognizable, unique songs and beats. Reggae can get old after a while, but Damian never fails to refresh and revive with the sounds of summer anywhere, anytime.

Not your mother's reggae. A sophisticated, eclectic mix constructed over hard-hitting Jamaican grooves and spars with R&B and hip-hop. It references Marcus Garvey, Exodus and Eek A Mouse. There are a couple of tracks that don't mesh with my own personal views --- but overall it's thoroughly refreshing. (via amazon.com)
