Yes --- you eat this. To me it looks like some sort of alien vegetation, but it is grown here on Earth. It's a member of the cauliflower family and is often called "Italian Caulifower". However, it's milder and sweeter than regular cauliflower. You can eat it raw or cooked.
Best as a Fall crop, it should be picked when the heads are small, for the ultimate tender flavor. (via parkseed.com)
