Sony VAIO Living Room PC with Blu Ray Drive (white)
I just purchased a big screen TV for the first time (Samsung 61" DLP, review coming soon) and I'm doing research on computers to connect to it. Initially, I was leaning towards the mac mini (I like its design, small size and the Front Row software we've enjoyed on our iMac), but I'd really like something with a Blu-Ray drive and larger capacities for hard drives and RAM. This new "Living Room" computer from Sony seems to have all the specs I'd like, and a nice design as well. It's larger than the mini, but would look nice on the TV stand, comes in white or black (tough choice), and Sony claims the design is really quiet - you don't want a contantly humming computer fan disturbing your movie watching. Specs from Amazon: - Intel Core 2 Duo T8100 Processor - 2-4 GB RAM - 500 GB Hard Drive - Blu Ray Drive - Wi-Fi - ATSC/NTSC tuners for recording TV - Vista Premum w/media center capabilities - HDMI output Kudos to Sony for making such an advanced machine at an almost reasonable price. I'm hoping Apple will answer with a beefed up mini, but they had better do that soon if they'd like my business.
