To make your home welcoming to potential buyers, don't underestimate the power of their noses. Burn a candle, my favorite is Yankee Candle Chocolate Chip Cookie, on a regular basis in your home to keep it smelling yummy. (Note: For safety reasons, do not burn while you are absent from the home or during scheduled showings when there is not constant supervision). Additionally, avoid cooking any foods with garlic, curry, fish or using cooking methods that create strong odors such as deep frying. You want your buyers to remember those beautiful hardwoods or new appliances...not what you had for lunch. They're looking to buy a house, not looking to smell your latest culinary creation.
