It's the iPod for books. Easily portable (1/2" thick, 9 ozs, maybe a little smaller than the page size of a paperback book). Can hold ~80 books, and memory is upgradable. Battery life is also outstanding (no power needed to maintain the page image once it's rendered).
Sony has an e-store where you can buy books (similar to iTunes) - http://ebooks.connect.com.
You can also upload PDF's, although the readability was not too great.

I debated between this and the Kindle, but decided to go with Sony for a few reasons. First of all, it's more attractive. The books in the Sony store are less expensive than Amazon's Kindle books. I was also given 100 free classics with purchase, which sealed the deal for me.
It's a wonderful product, and I've read several novels on it since purchasing. It holds 160 books, can play MP3's, and has a very clear display that is easy on the eyes. I also purchased the clip on light, as it's not a backlit screen, and much like reading a paperback. (via Sony Reader)

Amazing! I messed around with one of these at a Borders bookstore today. I was so impressed by the display quality; it has excellent resolution and is extremely easy on the eyes. It's definitely not like starting at a laptop...it's almost as if you're actually reading pages on a book.

I love this reader. I read all the reviews of others, and decided to try this one...and am thrilled with it. I had no trouble downloading books, and I'm no computer wiz. Also, I think the variety of books that are available is great. I can go to sony's elibrary, or Borders. I do recommend getting the charger for it, however. It's so much more convenient to charge that way. And the charge last for a great long time. I went on a trip for a week, and never had to charge it once...even after reading on the flight back and forth, and reading at night. Wonderful....I would recommend this reader for everyone.
