Ah, I remember making mix tapes. There is something about getting a tape that is so special. Wanna impress someone? Make them a mix! As far as it stacks up to the real thing...this one they'll actually be able to play!

I really love giving mixed tapes...this will bring it back to the old days for you. This comes with an original cassette tape and liner for you to write those crazy songs you gave them. I think this is a great idea for the modern age.

The days of making mix tapes for a friend or loved one are OVER...

or are they?

These USB mix tapes from SUCK.UK make everything that was good about making a mix tape possible again.

I know its just a USB stick packaged as a cassette tape, but that's exactley what makes them more special when you give it to someone.

Genius. (via SUCK.UK)

The best part about junior high circa 1980? The customization. Think slip-on sneakers from Vans when it was still family owned and those mix tapes your crush would spend all weekend painstakingly recording on cassette tape and scribbling all over. Suck UK makes a good case for flashing back—at least aesthetically—with this clever way of presenting a mix to your modern love. Store 64MB’s of tunes on the drive stick—that’s about one-hour of high-quality digital music, just about the experience you’d get on a standard cassette tape. Pack stick in the gift case. Then jot down the playlist and whatever other messages your heart desires. For MAC or PC.

Great idea for a thoughtful little gift for a loved one or friend who enjoys old school music gathering. I hope I can find them in the US. (via suck.uk.com)

One of my favorite pastimes in college was making mix tapes, both for road trips and my aerobic classes. There was a lasting (well, as long as the tape lasted) satisfaction in being your own D.J. Now comes a product that will enable me to recreate that feeling without worrying about the mix melting in my car and being able to add so many more songs to the playlist. I just might make my own Superbowl XLII playlist . . . (via Fred Flare)

Oh mix tapes...

True story. I once made a mix tape with (wait for it) Ace of Base, Boyz II Men, Joan Osbourne, Kenny G--- alright, stop laughing... I was in the 7th grade for chrissake.

ANYWAY, make a cheesy mixtape for your loved one this year. A little REO Speedwagon, Foreigner, Cutting Crew, Styx.--- alright, stop laughing.
