Why is it, that as soon as you're not paying attention, cats go completely crazy and start attacking and jumping into houseplants, eating their leaves and digging away at the soil? They're like little kids getting into the cookie jar. Well, these weird primal cat instincts to kill and destroy plants is going to stop around here, because I'm installing these clever new Cat Scat Mats for Houseplants and Gardens ($22).

Scat mats are placed around gardens or in potted plants to deter cats, dogs and other animals from digging, laying around or using it as a litter box. They are made of weatherproof brown prickly plastic teeth that are irritating deterrents, but still harmless, humane and chemical-free. A Super Soaker water gun or spray bottle works wonders too, but requires you to catch them in the act. Great solution for cat owners. (via The Green Head)
