The Fifth Season of Fashion - a list by hanahula

About this list:

As I await the opening of SATC: TM, I realize that I am not only anticipating the drama that will unfold but also the fashions that will be revealed. The fashion has been mulled over as much, if not more than, the very script itself. Such fashion gurus as Andre Leon Talley (of Vogue magazine) have been called in to accept or reject rack upon rack of clothing and accessories. So, I believe we are about to enter an entirely new fashion season, one which I have dubbed "The Fifth Season of Fashion".

Impromptu Bridal Gowns: Georgina Chapman for Marchesa

First to recommend

Description

Although these gowns are not available quite yet, I could not wait to recommend them . . . and also to give you a head start should you need to make plane reservations, as they will only be available in Bergdorf Goodman's Couture Evening Salon in New York, New York. July 2008. The Fifth Season of Fashion is off to a marvelously decadent start. (via W Magazine)

JCrew: Francette Wedding Gown

First to recommend

Description

A gorgeous floor-length gown of Italian silk gazar with a delicately flowered bodice, Francette has a practical side too. She has pockets ! On a day when you are sure to be a bundle of nerves, it would be nice to know you will have a place to rest your hands now and again. No designer label necessary; this dress speaks eloquently for herself.

Bergdorf Goodman: Diamond In The Rough Solitaire

First to recommend

Description

Weighing in at a little more than 10 carats, this rough-cut diamond could be just about the right size for a truly Big proposal. IF there is one, of course.

V V Rouleaux: Bridal Headdress

First to recommend

Description

A design that harks back to the 1950s, I could easily see a modern bride wearing it. With or without a veil, it would be particularly striking on someone who is petite.

Tiffany: Swing double drop earrings

First to recommend

Description

Dramatic drop earrings of sapphires alternating with diamonds are a unique alternative to the traditional bridal pearl studs. Set in platinum to match the potential engagement ring.

"Carolyne" Satin Mid-Heel Halter by Manolo Blahnik

First to recommend

Description

Yes, I think the bride (should there be one) will wear white. And I think she will shock us all by wearing something tasteful but relatively conventional on her feet. My only question is: to veil or not to veil ?

MICHAEL GEORGE HYBRID NEW YORK: Wedding Florist

First to recommend

Description

After the dress, the next thing that comes to my mind in relation to the word "wedding" is flowers. Lots of flowers. In bouquets and boutonnieres. At the ceremony. Surrounding the cake. Strewn across every available surface at the reception. And, as an extra special remembrance, a going-away arrangement for the bride to take home and preserve. In New York, Michael George does all this and more. He is an artist who just happens to use flowers as his favored medium.

Neiman Marcus: Classic Tuxedo by Armani Collezioni

First to recommend

Description

The only thing more tear-jerking than watching Carrie actually walk down the aisle would be watching BIg waiting for her at the altar in a full tuxedo, the look of love beaming between the two.

Crane's: Black & White Ribboned Wedding Invitations

First to recommend

Description

A decidedly modern take on the traditional white or cream wedding invitation that maintains adds a wonderful flair with a black ribbon and floral-lined envelope. How could you pass up this invite ?

INTERMIX: One-Shoulder Jersey Ruched Dress by Yyigal

First to recommend

Description

What I love most about this dress is the one-shoulder, demi-goddess design. But the jersey rayon material falls so easily across the body that it is a flattering fit for nearly every body type. And, last but not least, it comes in three different but equally fabulous colors: navy, turquoise and orchid. Which means that this could be THE dress for Miranda, Samantha AND Charlotte to wear as bridesmaids (should they be called upon to perform this role.)
