About this list:

I graduate in December 09, certified to teach early childhood education. Friends and family have been asking me what I want for graduation gifts...and the answer is definitely stuff for my classroom! It all depends on what kind of stuff is in the classroom when you walk in, but some new teachers get absolutely EMPTY rooms. So for those of you shopping for new teachers -- this list may be the place to start.

Qualifications:

Early Childhood degree =)

Kids love it and it can do wonders for their motor skills. Also, if you buy educational games, they can learn about letters, numbers, or whatever else you choose.

I actually JUST bought a couple sets of these (a dozen per set) at orientaltrading.com and they were less than $4 per set! Kids love stamps! ...And maybe some adults. ;)

Exacto knife set

Description

This set may be a little elaborate for the classroom, but just having ONE Exacto knife in my class would be a blessing! I'm always having to fold papers over to make the eye/mouth holes for masks or the holes for word wheels and such. A knife like this would make it so much easier!

Magnetic Dry Erase Board, Traditional Manuscript

2 people recommended this item

Description

Teachers LOVE using these. Kids don't mind writing on the whiteboards nearly as much as they mind writing on paper, for some reason (I think it's because whiteboards present more of a chance for making a mess! ha!). The whiteboards that are just plain with a couple lines at the bottom are super nice...that way they can write whatever they want (or whatever you tell them to) and draw a picture at the top.

Books for Kiddos

Updated Aug 15, 2009

Reading is a big deal, but I believe that if kids aren't interested in the book, then they won't care for reading. So I've...

Reading is good for the soul.

I love to read...I stick to mainly mysteries/thrillers or anything with a touch of comedy. Here are some of my favorites.
