About this list:

The scent of pine, a roaring fire, maple candy . . . these are just a few of my favorite holiday things. And the list only gets bigger as time goes on. So, in the spirit of the season, I would like to share my list with you . . . maybe you'll be inspired to add a few of these things to your own tradition (if you haven't already.)

Qualifications:

I come from a long line of merrymakers.

Christmas Music Compilation CD

First to recommend

Description

This 3-CD set is a collection of Shaker music interpreted by guitarist William Coulter and cellist Barry Phillips, along with a panoply of other instruments. Having sung some of these melodies as part of a children's choir, I highly recommend this collection as an addition to some more widely known holiday music compilations. Good gifting (and getting.)

Old Durham Road: MARZIPAN BOX CANDY

First to recommend

Description

Not only do I love the almond-based marzipan candy, I am also a huge fan of the dance of the Reed Flutes (or Marzipan) of the Nutcracker Ballet. Both are a real holiday treat. Good gifting.

The Vermont Country Store: Balsam Incense Log Cabin

Description

I love this log cabin, but I really love the scent of pine. Even more so now that my family has purchased a fabulous fake tree. It's environmentally sound and poses much less of a fire hazard. But I still need my fix of pine scent. And here it is, 20 sticks which burn for about 20 minutes each come with the cabin. A box of 54 refill sticks is also available through The Store. Good gifting (and getting.)

iTunes Store: John Lennon - Lennon Legend

First to recommend

Description

My favorite track is "Happy Xmas" with the children's choir singing back-up for John and Yoko. And the refrain: "Peace is yours, if you want it." I cry, every single time I hear it.

lucky scent: Peace on Earth by Flicker

Description

A rare combination of pine and Eucalyptus make the scent alone unique, but the artwork and sentiment are just the right finishing touch for a holiday candle with soul. Good gifting. (via Domino)
