Freakonomics: A Rogue Economist Explores the Hidden Side of Everything
6 people recommended this item
Description
Initially, I didn't want to read Freakonomics because I thought the title was stupid. I still think the title "Freakonomics" is a very bad choice, along with the cover design, but you know what they say about that. I overcame my superficiality and ended up devouring the book in a day and a half.
While I didn't necessarily love the style of WRITING, I very much enjoyed how the authors explained every day phenomena with economic models. Not only did it train me to look at things from a completely different perspective, but it made me feel better about spending four years in college studying something that thought I would never use.

The Search for Delicious
First to recommend
Description
The Search for Delicious by Natalie Babbitt is a book that I read in elementary school. While Tuck Everlasting is the story that got attention when it was made into a movie recently, The Search for Delicious is the book that really inspired me. (duh, The Delicious Life?)
Anyone who is into food, eating, cooking, or dining out should read The Search for Delicious. Yes, it is a children's/young adult book, but it is a very good reminder of what "delicious" means.

Book: Watership Down

Description
Watership Down is the scariest book on any middle schooler's summer reading list. Not only is the book about rabbits (which earns a "WTF?!"), but it has almost 500 pages. I thought my summer was ruined.
It wasn't. In fact, I loved Watership Down. Obviously, the themes are important, but the language on the page is well-written.
