Bite Xtension Running Sandal

Description

I HATE wearing running shoes in the summer. My feet are too claustrophobic! I found these in a magazine while on a flight and had to find out more. These are perfect for running or extended walking on those hot, sweltering days.

Earth Dinner Card Game

First to recommend

Description

What a great concept. The idea is to have a dinner party and play the game. It states, "Consider that what and how we eat indeed determines the health of the Earth. Your Earth Dinner™ is an opportunity for you to understand--at least for one night—where each ingredient on your table comes from. The challenge for your dinner party guests is to share the story behind each dish. Who grew the food? How was it grown? What is the geographic origin of the food?"

Young Living ESSENTIAL OIL DIFFUSER

First to recommend

Description

I've been seeing reports that essential oils kill microorganisms. What are microorganisms? They can range from the yeast that cause athlete's foot to MRSA (staph infection that "eats" the skin - 3 of my relatives went into hospital for this). I've come across a couple scientific studies that used clove and rosemary and they both killed (either immediately or over time) the microbes, but I would be curious to read more.
Anyhoo...this apparatus (not paraphernalia) is supposed to be a supremely quality device in diffusing the oils. Plastic parts can contaminate the oil, so this has none! It is stressed that high quality oils are a must, not the ones at the dollar store.

I've NEVER used Lysol and never will. It pollutes indoor air and slowly deadens sense of smell, this is may be at the top of my list. (via Meta Efficient)

NOW Foods Parsley Herb 450 mg. - 100 Capsules

First to recommend

Description

Spring clean just the kitchen? Give yourself the attention that you give your surroundings. I've known parsley is great for cutting bad breath, but it's just too strong for me from the plant. This may be worth trying once. Not to mention is has tons of potassium, vitamin C, Calcium and folic acid! (via Ideal Bite)

preserve tongue cleaner

2 people recommended this item

Description

After watching The Doctors explain that brushing your tongue just swishes around the bacteria and doesn't do a lick about REMOVING it ~ I went out and bought this puppy. Bacteria is the main culprit of bad breath and this effectively removes the stuff sitting on your tongue.

Not to mention it is made from recycled plastic from yogurt cups. Preserve is a company you can feel good buying from!

RADIUS Source Toothbrush

First to recommend

Description

Ok, I've been using this for almost a month now and what I thought was going to be awkward turns out to be comfortable. That hump in the handle........melts right into your palm. And the medium brush is more like soft, which my dentist recommended. Overall: Happy

"Replaceable head toothbrush with renewable resource handle. Wood Fiber blended with PLA, a plastic derived entirely from Nebraska maize. The resulting material is 100% renewal resource."

It is kind of silly that we must throw away an entire toothbrush. I'm not sure how much impact this would have, but it states something about how one prefers to live. (via PLENTY Magazine)

Pin Brush: Brushes

First to recommend

Description

Trying to rid plastic of one's life... it may be hardest in the bathroom! But alas, I've found a sustainable, wooden hair brush by none other than the Body Shop. Yes, there is a tiny bit of the P word at the base, but that is for cushion, so a certain amount of "comfort" is maintained.

FYI, what makes wood sustainable?
Well, it's certified by the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC).

So what does this mean? A product uses (and can be tracked back to) material from an FSC-certified forest ---> this is a forest that is itself certified by many standards on being sustainable and maintains a level of biodiversity that otherwise would be diminished.

Does this mean that buying FSC is a mean to an end? Nope. Not to get into all the facts, but being FSC-certified definately helps out larger parcel owners compared to smaller forests owners. In addition, buying doesn't mean that deforestation isn't going to occur in the rainforests, as most of the certified forests are northern-hemisphere heavy. (via Ideal Bite)

REI Balance Gym Bag

Description

In my quest of finding a more compact, but diverse gym bag ~ this one MAY be the winner. It separates dirtly clothes from clean and shoes ~ my main concerns. Plus it will fit in the narrow locker.

Bonus: Recycled polyester (plastic bottles)
