Description
This Middle Eastern inspired necklace was created by Hearthstone Gallery.
This is another very unusual, one of a kind, creation of mine. I found this single strand of purple freshwater pearl sticks. Look closely. Each section looks like there are three sticks placed next to each other. Actually, these were cut as one piece to look like three. Matching small, round, purple freshwater pearls complete the design along with a pewter clasp and zinc alloy pendant. (via www.1000markets.com)

Santa Barbara in Spanish Colonial Style - 12 inch square - gold background
First to recommend
Description
Take a trip to Mexico. The artist, Miss Butler, has a flair for Mexican, Spanish, and Latin American styes and colors. this gorgeous pillow is a small representation of this artist's talent.
Per the artist's description:
"This pillow features a serene image of St. Barbara in a primitive, Latin American style, think 17th century Cuzco or Mexico. Santa Barbara, a popular patron saint among Franciscan missionaries in the New World, is the patron saint of explosions, lightning and canons. Because of this she is sometimes associated with the Santeria god of lightning and war, Shango. She is carrying her signature chalice and martyr's palm. Behind the saint figure is a background of honey gold faux wood, Other rich colors in the pillow are sumptuous wine and berry reds, teal, and forest green with metallic gold highlights. The back of the pillow is decorated with a floral band pattern with beautifully-detailed flowers in the same luscious colors on a teal and honey gold background.
The pillow cover is made from a silky smooth 100% light-weight cotton, washable in cool water. The back of the pillow cover has a deep envelope closure. Great care was taken in matching up the pattern at the overlap. The placement of the floral bands in each pillow may vary from the sample in the photo." (via 1000 Markets)

Chestnut Tribute Drum
First to recommend
Description
The artisan, Indig Woodworks, creates beautiful works of art, including drums.
Per the artist's description:
"This frame drum measures 12" across and 2 1/2" deep.
The frame is made of antique reclaimed american chestnut that is riddled with worm holes. Each hole is individually inlayed with turquoise.
The drum is headed and laced with unbleached deer rawhide.
American chestnut trees were wiped out in the early 1900's. Billions of trees were left standing dead in the northern forests. These standing dead trees were the perfect habitat for all sorts of bugs. The "wormy chestnut" then cut for timber was considered a junk wood at the time and was used for things such as attic floorboards where no one could see it. This wood is light, strong, and has wonderful resonance properties.
This drum is laced in a traditional native american fashion honoring the four winds. But please note with respect to the indigenous cultures of this continent, I am not native american and this, therefore, is not Native American Art." (via 1000 Markets)

Nyame Nti treasure box
First to recommend
Description
Take a trip to Africa. This colorful box is meant to store one's little treasures and protect them from harm. This lovely creation was made by WovenGem.
Per the artist's description:
"This box is made for stowing away jewelry, change, candy or any other treasure that deserves to be displayed in a treasure box worthy of any African princess. It is polymer clay mixed and painted to look like malachite. The Adinkra symbol, Nyame Nti, is etched into the small knob on the top.
Nyame Nti litterally means "by God's grace" and is a symbol of faith and trust in God which makes it similar to Gye Nyame. According to The Adinkra Dictionary by W. Bruce Willis: "This stalk is depicted as the staff of life in many cultures. It symbolizes to the Akan that food is a basis of life and that they could not survive if not for the food that God has placed here on Earth for their nourishment. "
The symbols themselves bring together African proverbs and the philosophy of the Akan people in Ghana and parts of the Ivory Coast. All Adinkra symbols are very important to me because they are part of the search for roots that my family has undergone for quite sometimes. Through it, and them, we have found that we are certainly proud Americans, but we wish to honor every bit of the legacy that we have inherited from our diverse parentage." (via 1000 Markets)
