HP: nx9420 (RB550UA#ABA)

Because my employer is in the real estate and finance industry, Windows computers is all they use. The new rig for my job is the RB550UA#ABA build of the HP nx9420 (A true desktop replacement laptop). I won't get into how amazing this computer is or the fact that it isn't as flashy as the HP dv9000t. I will say that my nx9420 has the following:
- Intel Core 2 Duo Processor T7400 (2.16-GHz with a 4-MB L2 Cache)
- 2-MB SDRAM (Maxes out at 4!!!)
- 100-GB 7200 rpm SATA Hard Drive
- 17.0 inch WSXVGA+ Screen
- Integrated Intel Pro Wireless and Bluetooth

And much, much more...

Radar is truly a great new site. Granted, I was introduced by their PR person. It is basically Moblogging on a much more personal level. For those of your friends that are on Radar, you can create groups so that you can limit who sees what pictures and conversations. The groups option is very nice as there may be people who get annoyed of your homeless person picture collection or shoe pictures, so you just don't include them on that list. What can you loose, the service is free and very interesting. (via nuroots)

The JBL "On Stage" is a perfect desk accessory. Not only does the On Stage have the capacity to be used with your iPod, it can also be plugged into the speaker jack on your laptop or computer. The On Stage is constantly sitting next to my laptop so that I can bypass the week laptop speakers and listen to my music loud and clear. Besides being the perfect desk accessory, the On Stage travels well and is extremely easy to use while traveling. The On Stage goes every where we (GF & myself) go.

Because I have the luxury of working from home, I was in search of a cordless phone that had speaker phone capability from both the base unit and the handset. The Uniden TRU9465 met all my requirements. Granted the phone doesn't have some of the higher end bells and whistles as other phones, but it is a high quality product. The phones do not interfere with the wireless network in the house and the sound is crystal clear. The great thing is the phone system is expandable up to 10 different handsets (just in case you have a mansion).

From Uniden:
The Uniden TRU9465 is the next generation of 5.8 GHz cordless phones. It's a full-featured Digital answerer, with a Dialing keypad and a speakerphone. The enhanced IntegriSound improves Audio quality, for the most lifelike sound available. 5.8GHz frequency

Trillian (Instant Messenger)

Trillian is a great application for those of us that use multiple instant messaging services and accounts. I personally use Yahoo!, AIM and MSN. Trillian allows me to run one application and have access to all three services. Trillian also supports ICQ and IRC. The application is free for the basic version, and I don't recommend buying the pro version as there is almost no difference.

Basically, it is a great free application that allows you to run multiple instant messaging platforms at the same time.

NIKE iD

Everybody knows Nike puts out some high quality shoes for anything from football, baseball, basketball to running. With Nike iD, you can now customize your favorite pair of kicks. You can choose from a good amount of colors to customize almost every part of your shoes.

I had added the Nike Air Zoom Moire to ThisNext before because I loved the shoes. I had to return them because they were a half size to big. Well, I kept looking for them online, called several brick and mortar stores and to no avail, nobody had them. Finally, I went to the Nike iD site and noticed I can get the shoes with my own special touches. Amazing! I am actually really stoked on the idea of Nike iD.

The major downfall for Nike iD currently, is that it takes roughly 4 weeks, that's right folks, FOUR WEEKS to get your kicks. Good thing I didn't throw out the old running shoes.

REVISED 09/12/06
I just received an email today stating my shoes have been shipped. It has been roughly six business days since I placed my order. So the site says four weeks, but it is now obvious you can get the shoes much sooner!

Sirius satellite radio is my choice of all (I think there is really only two) the satellite radio services. I was lucky enough to have it in my ride and also be able to listen online as well. The programming is top notch as they have tons of commercial free music, sports, talk, comedy, you name it and they have it. I believe Sirius provides much better programming than XM as I have listened to XM as well. While XM is still playing catch up with their programming, Sirius is still leading the way.

Now, anybody can have Sirius with all the new products that come out from mobile satellite receivers, desktop receivers and even plug and play car kits.

Just a sample of the programming:
Music
-Chill (Downtempo, Nu Jazz)
-Pure Jazz (Jazz)
-Rolling Stones Radio (Rolling Stones and Rock and Roll)
-Boombox (Breakbeats and Electro Rock)
Sports
-NFL
-NBA
-NHL
-English Soccer
News
-US News
-Financial News
-Public Radio
Entertainment
-Comedy
-Talk
-Family & Kids
-Religion
Sirius Exclusives
-Howard Stern
-Martha Stewart
-Jerry Rice
-Rolling Stones Radio

As you can see there is something for everybody. Check it out if you get a chance as they have a free trial for listening online.

Audible.com is a great resource for "books on tape" (for lack of a better term). I use Audible mostly for business and non-fiction books as they don't require much imagination. For fiction books, I tend to read them as I like to use my imagination while I read. Audible has plans that start at $9.95 on up to $22.95. Audible is actually a good deal when you consider you might pay over $20.00 for a new book at a traditional brick and mortar store, when you can actually get the book from Audible for around $15.00.

SanDisk miniSD cards are great. I actually own two of them. I use one for my phone that holds my programs, files and music, then I also use another one for my camera as it comes with an adapter to fit standard SD slots. My next purchase will be the 2GB miniSD card. The amount of storage available on SD cards these days is truly amazing.

I am fairly new to the whole blogging world and TypePad has made it extremely easy. Granted I have dabbled in web and graphic design, but the amount of time it would have taken me to design the entire blog would have been very discouraging. I decided to do a personal (I am nothing close to the professionals such as Kristopher or Aunt Beep) blog so my friends and family back in California could see what was going on in my life while in Brooklyn.

TypePad with its ease of use, ease of design and overall ease of blogging has helped make blogging fun and exciting. Give it a try, I mean they have a free trial and it couldn't hurt.

OK... So I will wait for all the Treo user hate mail after I finish my post. I am an Ex-Treo user and damn proud of it! I got tired of the random resets, the horrible Microsoft compatibility and the "Ohhh you got one of those" comments.

I changed to the Cingular 8125 about three months ago and it was the best switch I have ever made. I can now actually review files created using Microsoft products and I now also have access to many more programs to help me waist more time than ever. Not to mention that Cingular has the best reception in New York.

The Cingular 8125 is a quad-band phone (GSM/GPRS/EDGE 850/900/1800/1900 MHz), Windows Mobile 5 (now with Push Mail), Integrated Bluetooth, Integrated 802.11b, Mini SD slot, a 1.3 mega-pixel camera and a 2.8" QVGA 320x240 color LCD touch screen. Did I mention it also has a sliding QWERTY keyboard and a 200 MHz processor?

My Treo now only goes to those places where I am afraid to lose the 8125. Treo, we had a great relationship, you made me a cool kid, but it's over...

The Canon SD500 is my first "pocket" camera and I am truly impressed with it. Before the SD500, I used my Sony Mavica (MVC-CD500) which is actually very large but had all the features I wanted. The SD500 still allows for the user to manipulate a number of different settings to get the picture just right. In addition to the camera being "pocket" sized, it is also a 7.1 mega pixel camera which is truly amazing, along with a terrific video quality.

All in all, the SD500 has impressed me and has kept me more than satisfied with my purchase.

Apple iPod Nano (old)
Updated Jul 30, 2006

The nano is very small and light. It is perfect for people who have an active lifestyle. Previously to getting the nano, I had a 2nd generation 15GB iPod that was heavy and bulky. Sure, I could put 1/10th of my music collection on it, but it was always ever present in my pocket. The 2GB nano can house roughly 500 tracks and I don't even notice it while running, skating or getting some freshies. (via Apple)

One of my newest purchases. I wanted a higher quality headphone for the times that I'm not running, skating or getting some freshies. The SR80 is hands down and feet in the air, one of the best sets of headphones I have purchased. Because of the different types of music I listen to, I gravitate heavily towards headphones that have a high quality bass range, and the SR80 has exactly that. The absolutely amazing thing.... The headphones cost just a hair under $100.

I am also very pleased with the aesthetics of the design. Nothing like old school style headphones.

First Headphone ever awarded a "GOLDEN NOTE AWARD" Presented by the Academy for the Advancement of High End Audio.

Because of my massive music collection, I like to have it at my finger tips. The DiskGO! portable hard drive does just that. The drive is super quite and super fast. It has both USB 2.0 and Firewire compatibility. This is the perfect accessory for those that have massive music collections and a plethora of digital pictures.

From the Apple site: "Transform your iPod nano into a personal workout coach with the Nike + iPod Sport Kit. This wireless sensor and receiver combination works exclusively with your Nike+ shoes and iPod nano to give you real-time feedback during workouts and let you track your performance on your Mac or PC."

The program in the iPod tells you information about your current work out and your goals." I personally can't wait till somebody creates a hack program that lets you change some of the remarks that are said. They need remarks like:
- Pick it up slacker
- You call that running, I call it strolling
- Your slower than a turtle stuck in peanut butter
- No wonder why you were picked last for teams

I'm sure there are plenty more that are even better! (via
