Keith Richards by Victor Bockris

Description
I love me some Keef. This is a great bio. If you have not read any biographies of Keef, start with this one. It's the best and most interesting (IMO).

Garage Rock and Its Roots: Musical Rebels and the Drive for Individuality

Description
An interesting read that traces the roots of garage rock (using the Detroit music scene as the main focal point). A must read for any fan of garage rock.

The True Adventures of the Rolling Stones by Stanley Booth
First to recommend
Description
Stanley Booth was part of the Rolling Stones inner circle and was along for the 1969 US tour which included the infamous concert at Altamont Speedway. This book has a reputation as being the ultimate Rolling Stone read. I'm in the middle of reading Mick and Keith by Chris Salewicz (which is really good). Once I finish that I'm reading this book. From all I've heard Stanley Booth also has an amazing writing style. I'm really looking forward to reading this.

Please Kill Me: The Uncensored Oral History of Punk by Legs McNeil
First to recommend
Description
One of my fav. music books of all time. I LOVE the NYC music scene of the 70's...think Richard Hell (oh how I love you), the Ramones, Blondie, Patti Smith, etc. Legs McNeil was one of the founders of Punk Magazine. This books is interview style, which I love. I periodically re-read this fantastic book. If you have a love of the 70's NYC "punk" scene or want to learn more about it, this is the book for you.

Mick and Keith by Chris Salewicz

Description
This is an interesting read. It gives another insight and perspective into what I like to call the longest running marriage in the music biz., that between Keith Richards and Mick Jagger. I'm a Keef girl all the way, and don't really care too much about Mick. However, to understand Keef, the Stones, and their music you need to understand Keith's relationship with Mick. A must read for any Keef or Stones fan.

All the Rage by Ian McLagan

Description
Ian McLagan's biography is just fun. It tells his story from the Small Faces, the Faces and beyond. A more entertaining than most rock biography (and I've read a ton of them).

Stoned by by Andrew Loog Oldham
First to recommend
Description
A fun and and saucy read! If you don't know who by Andrew Loog Oldham is, he was the one who basically got Mick and Keef to start to write songs together and really drove the Rolling Stones to their first level of success. He is also an absolute outrageous and wonderful character. He is also currently a DJ in the morning on Little Steven's Underground Garage radio station on Sirius Sattelite Radio. I love listening to him. He tells really interesting stories. If you are in any way shape or form interested in early 60's British Rock, he has many tales to tell and was there to witness so much history in the making. He also plays great music. Get Stoned and be prepared to be entertained!

Paul Weller - My Ever Changing Moods by John Reed
First to recommend
Description
How I love Paul Weller. One of my fav. songwriters and singers. This is a good overview of his career, and a nice place to start if you are unfamiliar with the Modfather. I saw him live a few years ago at the Warfield here in San Francisco, and he was amazing. He gets better as he gets older! Go see him live if you get the chance!!
