About this list:
So, so many shoes from which to choose. Yet, at the end of a hard, pavement-pounding week, nothing feels better than slipping into a great pair of sneaks. And, as 2008 is the 100th anniversary of Converse, I thought I would make a list of some outstanding sneakers as a sort of homage. Here's to you, Converse.
Qualifications:
I worshipped the Nike Pegasus throughout middle school.

You don't have to be a famous athlete to dress like one or to train like one. All you need is the spirit and the drive and a little inspiration. Try these shoes on for a heaping dose of all three.

Whoever told you that you needed to dress down in order to wear sneakers has never had the good fortune to behold these sparklers. And if you can't bring yourself to wear them with anything else, they will look smashing with your favorite pair of jeans. (via Vivre)

These are the most comfortable sneakers I have ever worn. And, as runner, I have worked my way through hundreds of pairs of sneakers. Plus, they are just a bit more stylish than your average sneaker. Added bonus: they put together with water-based glue, which means a smaller carbon footprint for you! Available in sand, indigo and black. (via Simple Shoes)

Not only are you recycling by contributing your older or least favorite pairs of shoes to this organization, you are also helping an adult or child or might otherwise go barefoot. As we are about to change seasons and (possibly) engage in a bit of spring cleaning, this is a good time to set a aside shoes you have no intention of wearing again. You can send one pair or organize your own shoe drive. You'll never look at your own shoes the same way again. (via Piperlime)

This particular edition of the Converse sneaker displays a conceptual timeline of 100 years of sneaker tradition. A wearable collectible in a thoroughly modern incarnation, this is art you will definitely want to wear.

If I were lucky enough to be running the Boston Marathon this year, these Adidas trail runners would be my shoe of choice. The course is long and winding and rain is always a consideration . . . these shoes will keep your feet comfy and well-ventilated even if the rest of you is not.

Leave it to Gwen Stefani to create a line of shoes that we can all afford. I particularly like this black and white style. It's funky, but not too funky for someone who has already graduated from college. I would love to add a pair of these to my ever-growing collection of sneakers ! (via Royal Elastics)

Steal home, run the bases or simply look like you can. These shoes may not make not turn you into Coco Crisp, but they'll keep your feet inspired. While you are waiting for the season to begin, watch "Know the Code" for some video clips and inside tips from a few of the pros. (via adidas Baseball)

These shoes remind me of a Creamsicle . . . which should be enough motivation to keep me running until the spring decides to sprout. And if you are training for the Boston Marathon, you deserve a pair of shoes this sweet.
