About this list:

I don't know about you, but once July comes, I just don't seem to get major work done in the yard. So April - June is the time to get prepared! Don't just spring clean your house - get out and get your greenery ready!

Soil Block Maker (4 blocks)

First to recommend

Description

Another great alternative to spring planting. No pots needed. This press makes a solid block out of moistened soil. Release and place on some kind of mat and plant your seeds! This is my most exciting find lately!

No plastic pots, just soil in soil. Eco at its best.

Description

What could be better than a biodegradable seedling pot? Have the kids make them for you (you may end up with more than you need!) and you are ready for spring. Also available at Lehman's in Ohio.

Made in Canada from solid maple.

Hemp Twine Medium (260 Ft Roll)

Description

I've gotten into the nasty habit of using plastic ties in the garden! Ugh, no more. I will get this, this winter for spring. Hemp used to be used widely since it is one of the strongest fibers. It is also biodegradable.

EasyBloom Plant Sensor

Description

Stick this in your pot, garden or yard for 24 hours. It collects data such as soil and sun. Plug hidden USB port into computer and you will be connected to a database with recommendations for plants and/or solutions for problems. Turn that brown thumb in your life into a green thumb. There is an interesting premise for this promising green gadget!

Sunlawn LMM-40 Push Reel Mower, Similar to Brill Luxus

Description

For smaller yards, it is much easier to pull this bad boy out than worry about gas and oil and starting and noise. Just seems ridiculous NOT to use it. (Over an acre, look into an electric)
Also, I will take this time to remind people to LEAVE THE GRASS CLIPPINGS ON THE LAWN! As long as the grass isn't so high that it's leaving huge clumps, those clippings are better for your grass (nitrogen=green) than any fertilizer. I'm an ex-landscape designer, so you can trust me. Wall Shelf Drying Rack - Gaiam

Description

Considering I hang all my delicates to dry, this would be perfect. Not to mention I would use it for all the other things it suggests: drying flowers, pasta and herbs. It is also USA made.

English Tip Bags

Description

Take it from someone who works in a small yard, these would be well-recieved gifts. For leaves, weeds or anything else we do in the yard. These can be easily dumped at the local recycling center (if you find one that accepts yard waste). Polypropylene. Large and medium.

nomadneedles :: Worm Composting Bag

First to recommend

Description

How could this cute little thing be a vermicomposter? For those with less space (or less an inclination for the "typical" worm composter). Love it and will probably order one, as I am tired of actually throwing away my scraps ~ that don't get frozen for stock.
