Nowadays, flying is a lot different that it used to be. This is my list of essentials I always make sure to have before embarking on the tedious airport-airplane journey. Sure to make your coach seat seem a bit more bearable (crying babies sitting next to you excluded).

I might bring some of these along on trips with me just in case those parents with pesky kids haven't discovered them yet. These magnetic games are great for travel. They come in a variety of games including: sudoku, hangman, checkers, and four in a row. Great for keeping yourself or your kids distracted during long trips.

This luggage was features in Self magazine. It is made from polycarbonate (think Nalgene bottles) so its super lightweight and scratch resistant. It comes with telescopic handles for your carrying pleasure (yes I really just wrote that) and is fully lined on the interior with removable garment and toiletry cases. AND it has a TSA approved combo lock and 4 completely swiveling wheels for more carrying pleasure (oh jees). Basically one of the best pieces of carry-on luggage out there. Get em while you can!

Set the analog clock to one time zone and the digital display to another. That way you'll always know when it's a good time to call your loved one(s). It always takes me so long to calculate the time in whichever time zone I'm trying to call from compared to Pacific Time. This would definitely ease that process.

This package contains 30 sheets of paper sheets of body wash. Just add water, and the sheets dissolve into a foamy lather for you to get a fresh and clean with. Great for camping so you can wash in those mountain waterfalls, as the man on the package is doing. I always find myself in natural waterfalls. But really, you could use these to spruce up in the airplane bathroom before you land, in case you run into someone special at the airport bar.
