Make Flying & Traveling enjoyable. Even in coach! - a list by Yournewbestfriend
Options for This Page
About this list:
Nowadays, flying is a lot different that it used to be. This is my list of essentials I always make sure to have before embarking on the tedious airport-airplane journey. Sure to make your coach seat seem a bit more bearable (crying babies sitting next to you excluded).
Qualifications:
Learned from years of in-flight discomfort.
Folding Foot Rest
First to recommend
Description
My feet are always left dangling on flights. Then I have to sit awkwardly cross legged somehow for 4+ hours because I don't want vericose veins from sitting cross legged! They should give these to people automatically on flights. Until then, this is a handy and super portable footrest for any traveler.

Child Aviation Restraint
First to recommend
Description
They say it's so you don't have to lug your car seat onto the plane. It straps onto the airplane seat and keeps your child safe during the entire flight. Personally, I think putting the word "restraint" in the product name is a little unfriendly. I guess if you usually bring your car seat onto the flight this is a great tool. Just let them roam free in a meadow afterwards for a while?

Bose QuietComfort 2 Acoustic Noise Cancelling Headphones
6 people recommended this item
Description
These headphones are dreamy. Listening to your iPod through them makes you feel like you're sitting in front of a 6 speaker stereo system. Really crisp sounds that makes your surroundings melt away. Plus, they're noise cancelling so perfect for airplanes or your desk job! : )

faux fur neck hugger
2 people recommended this item
Description
Partly funny. Fully functional. This neck pillow is PERFECT for traveling. First, who doesn't want to snuggle up on furry surfaces when trying to sleep? This is perfect for planes, trains, and automobiles when trying to sleep without a nasty neck-ache. Second, the faux fur is funny, comfy, and most importantly will probably scare most people away from talking to you! No more trying to brush people off lightly while trying to relax...solo and quietly. Just pull this pillow out and nobody should bother you.

Revolutionary, Patented SLEEP MASTER Sleep Mask
First to recommend
Description
This sleep mask is perfect for traveling! Similar to the faux fur neck pillow, the expansive coverage that this sleep mask provides will probably keep people from talking to you, as well! Not only is it so helpful in that respect, but it is supposedly the best one out there because it blocks out light from all directions and fits snugly on your face, leaving you feeling protected and safe so you can fall asleep soundly. I love this and want it for flying, just to look super high maintenance.

Klean Kanteen with Loop-Top Cap
3 people recommended this item
Description
With the current BPA in plastics scare and our observable wasteful use of one-time use water bottles, reusable bottles made from metal are a hot item for those wanting to go green. Klean Kanteens don't have any baked-on lining, so absolutely nothing is seeping into your water. It is made from pure stainless steel and leaves no metally taste at all. I carry mine with me everywhere I go, and most places will fill it up for free (like Starbucks!) which means no more buying bottled water. Save money and the environment with this bottle. Great for traveling, camping, and daily use!

Phytomer Moisturizing Hand Cream
2 people recommended this item
Description
Really good hand cream is hard to find. This sounds amazing. Anything that keeps your hands moisturized for a long time is good in my book. Hand cream is essential to keep in your purse and to have on hand while traveling because airplane air is so dry. I use mine often, but it is almost out. I'll be picking up this Phytomer soon! Nothing feels better than some soft hands...

A New Earth: Awakening to Your Life's Purpose
4 people recommended this item
Description
A good read is always a must for the beach. This is best read I have ever found. Tolle's book changes the way you think, but slowly and sensibly. There is no hounding here. Just an awe-inspiring awakening to a way of seeing the world that makes so much sense but you may have never thought of before. Want to change your life? Read it. You'll thank me later.

High Fiber Bars: Gnu Foods - Chocolate Brownie
First to recommend
Description
Alright guys. I know "fiber bar" may not make you salivate on first look. But honestly, these bars taste delicious. They have only 130 calories, but pack 12 grams of fiber and a yummy chocolate taste. Way better than any other snack bar on the market to me. All natural, no high fructose corn syrup, and not loaded with carbs. A must have for anyone on-the-go or, traveling, or camping. You can either buy a box of these or buy a sampler pack to try out their other flavors.
