Nasturtiums

First to recommend

Description

Nasturtiums are a rowdy bunch. Bright blooms, interesting foliage, long flowering season and really easy to grow. Not only that but you can throw the flowers into a salad and eat them (they're peppery). These are great for a beginning gardener. They are annuals so they are cheap and if it turns out you don't like them, you can try something else next year.

Snow and Graham card: Many Thanks

First to recommend

Description

I got a box of these to take care of some very belated Christmas and Channukah thank yous. The cards are small but sweet. I think everyone on my list will like them - friends, family, and so on.

Mizrahi: Ultra Blue Flower Duvet Set

First to recommend

Description

A bold flower print that isn't fussy, frilly or pink. Target also sells similar sheet sets in a peony print.

I like the over-sized floral theme which instead of making the bed a dowdy piece of functional furniture, makes it into a art.

I can't wait for the day when there will be a company that will print your photographs to fabric.

Pearl River: coated paper umbrellas

First to recommend

Description

These are Japanese style paper umbrellas. The paper used for them has been oiled so it is rain resistant and you can use them as a regular umbrella. Despite their paper construction, they are sturdy objects that are less likely to be inverted in high winds than the umbrella that you bought from the guy on the street. They are also very beautiful in the way they combine form and function. At somewhat more than ten dollars, the price is definitely right.

I used a similar umbrella for years before someone stole it from me. Now I'd like to get another to enjoy spinning it again.

Philadelphia Flower Show

First to recommend

Description

The Philadelphia Flower Show takes place in March every year. Generally when you think of flower shows, you think of something fairly small where a bunch of women are warring over whose gardenias are the best. The Philadelphia Flower Show is huge - every year I'm amazed at the size of the exhibitions - enormous trees indoors, flowers of every shape and size, unreal looking succulents, wild orchids, and smaller displays that are just incredible.

Perhaps the best thing about it is the smell - green, growing, floral - all wonderful at the end of winter.

Etsy Seller: Meeting Street Design

First to recommend

Description

Ponytail holders and barettes that are just cute as heck. I want to order about a dozen different designs from Meeting Street despite the fact that my ponytail remains clenched with three all-purpose, no-nonsense black ponytail holders at all times. Maybe it is time for a change.

Ranging from silly and fun to elegant and sophisticated there's something here for your five year old and for you. Or perhaps your inner five year old.

Deluxe "Urara" Bento Box Set -- Yellow (Flower)

First to recommend

Description

J-list has many different bento boxes, but this deluxe set really caught my eye. With reasonable sized containers and included mug and chopsticks, this can be your lunch box and express your style at the same time.

Narcissus Ziva Paperwhite Bulbs

First to recommend

Description

Narcissus or Paperwhites are perfect for forcing. In the dead of winter, they bloom and will make your house smell like springtime. This is why they're an ideal winter holiday gift or just something good to cheer someone up. They only ship these in the fall and winter, starting in late September and continuing until sometime in January.

I've always thought that they are an ideal way to say that you're thinking of someone - family, friend, or someone from work. They're both lasting and ephemeral.

Description

Detailed, elegant clothing from Ireland. This Etsy seller has some items that I can only describe as really lovely. Assertive shrugs with flowers, nicely cut jackets, romantic dresses.

I don't know the language of clothing well enough to describe these. Go take a look and find your own description.
